Back to School!

By Mrs S McHale24th August 2018

WELCOME BACK!

We can’t wait to see you all enjoying your new classrooms and teachers!

A special warm welcome to the new members of the St Michael’s family joining us in Reception and Nursery. We ask for God’s blessing on them and pray that they feel loved and treasured as members of our academy.

Thank you to all of our wonderful parents and carers who always put a great value on school and education.  We hope you have enjoyed a fun summer with your children and are now ready to wave them off on the 4th September! All of the staff have all been very busy over the holidays preparing for the new academic year both in the classrooms and around school.

Children, we know that your family members will have helped you continue using our Gospel values over the summer holiday. For example; treating everyone with respect, being grateful and generous, loving and compassionate. We will help you more with these value this term.

But for the start of term, look forward to being on time and in school every day, praising our Lord in work, play and prayer, wearing the correct uniform and working hard in class (and giggling lots at play times!) so that you develop all those wonderful skills God has blessed you with.

We hope the sun shines in September again for more fun learning!

Nursery & Reception Sponsored Scoot

By Mrs S McHale30th April 2017

A big thank you to parents for sponsoring our youngest children for their sponsored scoot on Friday 28th April. Together, they have raised over £150 for our Lenten charity ‘Father Hudson’s Care’ which will be presented at the annual Mass on 19th May. The children did so well on their scooters and were so proud to show their skills by doing 5 or 10 laps of our playground! Well done everyone.

MATHS NO PROBLEM!

By Mrs S McHale11th September 2016

Year 1 & Year 2 have made an excellent start to their new maths scheme. You may have heard them talking about Singapore Maths or ‘Maths, No Problem’. A curriculum 2014 endorsed way to ensure early confidence in mathematical concepts. All St Michael’s and SS Mary and John’s staff attended a full training day on 6th September 2016 allowing us to plan ahead for each year another cohort beginning to use this fantastic scheme.

Well done for completing so many laps of our Race for Life track children! Wolfie was very impressed with how many of you had raised money for Cancer Research and for those of you wearing fabulous pink costumes, wigs or crazy clothing! Look out for us in the Express and Star newspaper this week!

A huge thank you to all of the parents who helped organise, fund goodie bags, sell refreshments, collect balloons and even sprint around the track! You really helped us have a brilliant day. Good luck to all those of you running at West Park tonight too!
