On Wednesday 25th February, St. Michael’s Academy hosted a football match against Dovecotes Primary School. Mr Kay kindly agreed to referee the game. From the start it was clear that we would be too strong for our visitors. Within a matter of minutes we were two nil up, with goals from Declan and Gabriel. Following

several missed chances (mentioning no names!) we went three nil up when Hebert scored his first goal. He went on to score 5 more always being in the right place at the right time. Daniel was on hand to snuff out any danger to our goal. The back three of Joe, Jude and Jake were outstanding throughout the first half. Finlay and  Declan and myself kept the team forward resulting in a half time score of St. Michael’s 6, Dovecotes 0.

The second half continued in the fashion as the first. Gage Badger and Luke Evans made their debuts for the school team and were soon in the thick of the action. Alex Terry also came on and almost immediately had an opportunity to get on the score sheet. Dovecotes to their credit kept battling away and came close to scoring on a couple of occasions. Only the brilliance of our keeper Daniel kept them at bay. I managed to score, as did Alex, Joe(who had moved up front) and Finlay, however, it was the overall team performance that Mr Kay and Mr McGinn were really pleased with. The final score was St. Michaels 14 – Dovecotes 0. Joint man of the match was awarded to Daniel and Myself.
